kleur collection
kleur is a study of colour.
Where wilde klei documents earth and geology, kleur operates in a more alien landscape. It is contemporary, deliberate, and unconcerned.
Colour is not discovered here — it is introduced.
Bleached stoneware is stained using commercially sourced pigments. These pigments are mixed and adjusted in the studio to create both restrained tonal palettes and harsher, more confrontational colour moments.
Some pieces are soft and quiet, easy to absorb. Others exist only to make the viewer pause — to tilt the head slightly in confusion.
All colour in kleur is achieved through stained clay. Pigments are incorporated directly into bleached stoneware before forming. No glaze or surface painting is used. The colour exists within the clay body itself.
It is colour and concept without apology.

ranges
Like wilde klei, kleur is catalogued systematically.
heel ____________________________
Solid, uninterrupted colour. No pattern. No interruption. The clay body is fully stained, creating a singular tonal presence.
glimlag _________________________
Graphic interventions in clay. The traditional smiley face is introduced in contrasting colour and then subtly distorted by the moulding of the clay into a spherical form. The result carries a faintly dystopian undertone — familiar, yet slightly altered.
nerikomi ________________________
Stained clays are combined using traditional nerikomi technique. Each combination produces a limited set of orbs from a single pattern that is not repeated.
This is the range where the most play occurs and the least control is imposed. A combination is made, but the final design only fully reveals itself toward the end of the process.
oë ______________________________
Circular pattern compositions referencing the structure of an eye — circular layers building on each other. While the design refers to anatomy, the palettes hold no realism. Each colour combination is catalogued as a distinct aesthetic.
documentation
Each piece is marked according to its classification:
studio – vreemd / collection – kleur / range – design designation
As with wilde klei, this system functions as record rather than decoration.
